Hi there,

I’m Casey Fenton, Chairman of the Board and one of the co-founders of CouchSurfing International. CouchSurfing is an international network that connects travelers with locals in over 230 countries and territories around the world. I came up with the initial idea for the project back in 1998 after trips to Egypt and Iceland that had a profound impact on the way I viewed the world. Several years and a number of inspiring trips later, I founded the organization along with several friends. Since then CouchSurfing has grown to many millions of members and has gone through many evolutions, and it’s not stopping there. Exciting things are always happening in CouchSurfing and I encourage you to follow our development.

In 2010, I was elected an Ashoka Fellow. More information on Ashoka Fellows here.

I grew up in Conway, New Hampshire and Brownfield, Maine. After many years of a pretty nomadic existence, traveling and living in the various CouchSurfing Collectives, I have settled back in San Francisco where I continue to fulfill my leadership role at CouchSurfing and work on new projects that inspire me.
